Nothing says Christmas like hanging lights on your house. From testing bulbs to choosing between incandescent and LED, installing lights on your home is a drag. Millions of us have ditched this practice by having companies install Christmas lights and it doesn’t cost as much as you think.
In 2010 we used a company called Christmas Lighting Pros to hang some lights on our house. We found out about them through some fliers at our local big box hardware store. We called the guy and found his rates to be pretty good. He charged by the hour and he gave us an estimate based on the lights we wanted, the size of the house and the density of the lights. We didn’t need anything on the trees.
He came out, measured and started to work. He staples the lights onto the house (he asked he could do that and we said it was fine) and it didn’t take him more than a couple hours. It cost us $100 and it was time well saved. It allowed us to spend more time with each other while we shopped for gifts and wrapped presents. Two hours doesn’t seem like a lot but it is during the Christmas season.
After talking to our neighbors, we discovered that were not the only ones on the block that paid to have Christmas (or Xmas) lights installed. Half the street did! Most of them just looked on the Internet and some, like we did, phoned Ace or Home Depot. I heard one story of a kid that was dropping off fliers for it. I didn’t like that because of all the Christmas light scams going on.
The guys who did the lights did a good job and the house looked great. It was totally ready for Christmas.
